Some very disappointing news this bulletin! 😞

We’ve been getting lots of questions about the opening date of the permanent Phoenix Cultural Centre/Fiery Bird Live Music Venue.

Our current situation is that though we have all of the music equipment ready to put in from our last venue that we had to hand back last year, the new building is a shell.
We were offered a permanent building by Woking Borough Council in 2019 to be handed over with the work to make it accessible and with heat, light, water reconnected and toilets installed, we could then install all of the music equipment from the Fiery Bird we were already running and the transition from one to the other was planned to be immediate.

Subsequently as with many, Covid interrupted these plans and we were also advised that due to Covid the money to complete the works before...

GIG ANNOUNCEMENTS

There is so much in the pipeline, BUT we still are waiting on the YourFund decision on our community venue refit from Surrey County Council , no work can begin on the venue until we know the outcome.

We have submitted all the information requested and look forward to hearing soon.

So we have been trying to reschedule and move our booked shows.

Unfortunately for all concerned we have had to cancel 2 shows, move 3 to a different venue and reschedule one of the dates.

We are really sad that Cut Capers and Hannah Moule and the Moulettes have had to cancel because of the venue not being ready.

We have worked really hard to find alternative space for the gig but with no other venues available to accommodate them and their touring schedules not coinciding with resched...

THE VISION REMAINS THE SAME BUT DATES HAVE MOVED

GIG RELOCATIONS & POSTPONEMENTS

Due to the funding decision being delayed, our amazing venue won’t be ready to open in time for our upcoming shows!
With the fantastic support of the bands, the agents, Woking Borough Council and other partners we have been able to move some shows to different venues and other shows have had to be rescheduled to 2022.
Martha Hill to the Rhoda McGaw Theatre. Unfortunately there was nowhere in Woking to host the Chubby & The Gang gig but The Face Bar in Reading has been able to help us there.

Important update: the Skints gig due to take place on 28th October has unfortunately been cancelled.
Please look out for an email from SeeTickets regarding a refund if you have purchased tickets.
We are absolutely gutted that this gig could not take place, but circu...

The money that we will receive will be used to help support us get through until the Spring and help us bring live music back to Fiery Bird and secure our future into our new permanent venue.

#saveourvenues campaign from the Music Venues Trust

Music Venue Trust, the charity which protects, secures and improves the UK’s grass roots music venues has launched #saveourvenues to draw together fundraising activity aimed at preventing the permanent closure of these vital venues due to COVID-19.

There are 556 venues at risk of closure, so this campaign aims to bring together artists who want to help, with the venues they love, and provide an easy way for music fans to financially support the resultant live streams.

The idea behind #saveourvenues is to secure grass roots music venues one by one.

The website provides simple tools for artists who would like to get involved. A map of venues shows which UK venues are keen to be partnered – they each have a fundraising page already in place to make it easy for music fans to donate...
